Third sets in both doubles matches decided the outcome Tuesday as Wilmington lost to Glen Este in a Fort Ancient Valley Conference East Division girls tennis on the WHS courts.

“It was a well fought match that ended with both doubles team going to a third set to decide the winner of the match,” said WHS head coach Jeri Earley.

Wilmington is 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the FAVC.

The Wilmington High School reserve girls tennis team won back-to-back matches Monday and Tuesday.

The Lady Hurricane defeated Glen Este 5-0 on Tuesday and Stivers 4-1 on Monday.

Wilmington is 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference.

Stivers edges Wilmington 3-2 PDF Print E-mail

The Wilmington High School girls tennis team dropped to 1-5 on the year with a 3-2 loss to the Stivers School for the Arts Monday on the WHS courts.

“The girls played hard,” said WHS coach Jeri Earley. “It was a tough match. Stivers is a strong team.”

Tyler Ray posted a singles win 6-4, 6-3 at second singles.

KINGS MILLS — The Wilmington High School girls tennis team lost a 5-0 decision Thursday to Kings in a Fort Ancient Valley Conference match.

Wilmington is 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the FAVC.

“The girls continue to show improvement,” WHS coach Jeri Earley said.

The Wilmington High School reserve girls tennis team lost to Kings Thursday night, 3-2.

Sarah Johnson posted the lone singles win for the Lady Hurricane.

“Sarah thinks well on the court and kept a variety of shots going,” said WHS coach Cathy Fay. “She is getting more consistent in her game all the time.”
