CINCINNATI — The Wilmington High School boys soccer team posted a 3-0 win over Mt. Healthy in non-league action on Tuesday.
The Hurricane is now 3-3 on the season. WHS got its first goal about 15 minutes into the first half when Ty Carroll collected the ball in front of the net and directed toward the goal when it bounced off of their fullback and into the net. About six minutes later, Kyle Imhulse skied the ball toward the goal where Jacob Spirk put it in the back of the net to give WHS the 2-0 lead. “Even though we were up 2-0 at the half we were a little lethargic during the game. We had several people fighting colds. We were out of the routine of a normal game and did not play real well in the first half,” said WHS head coach Jeff Wiederhold. “We tried to make some adjustments at half time. I just think the colds are taking hold of the team.” In the second half, David Duquette took a corner kick which crossed to the far post where Imhulse planted it in the back of the net with a header for the final score. Timmy Wiederhold had eight saves for his first varsity shutout for the Hurricane. The team returns to action Thursday at home against Amelia in FAVC play.
