SPRINGFIELD — Former Wilmington High School golf standout Craig Osterbrock will continue his academic andathletic careers at Wittenberg University. Osterbrock will be a member of Wittenberg’s freshman class of 2013. Osterbrock has several athletic accomplishments during his high school career. He was awarded first-team All Fort Ancient Valley Conference (FAVC) all four years of high school. He was both player of the year and FAVC tournament medalist two years. He tied his high school’s nine-hole record of 31 three times, and won the 2008 Junior PGA Series event at Westbrook Country Club shooting 72-69-73 to finish at -2. He also has several awards for his hard work on the basketball court. He made first-team All FAVC and Honorable Mention All District.
Osterbrock graduated high school with a GPA of 3.97 making him a National Honor Society graduate. He was a Phi Sigma member for four years and voted President as a senior. He also graduated with the Leadership Clinton Youth Collaborative honor. In their most recent season, the Wittenberg Tigers, coached by Jeff Roope, claimed second place in both the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference tournament and the 2008-09 overall NCAC Championship Series standings. It was the best finish for the Tigers since they captured their lone team title in 1992. An additional highlight of the season was the selection of four Tigers to the All-NCAC teams, which included two freshmen being named to the first team.
