WILMINGTON — Little Miami scored a total of nine touchdowns including five in the opening half, and rolled to a 64-27 victory over Wilmington High School Friday night at Townsend Field of Williams Stadium.

The victory improves the Panthers to 5-1 on the season while Wilmington falls to 1-6. It was the Fort Ancient Valley Conference opener for both teams.

The Panthers offense was in high gear, accumulating 595 total yards while Wilmington collected 398 total yards. Panther quarterback Kyle Cook converted 12 of 16 pass attempts for 330 yards, and passed for five touchdowns. He connected with a pair of recievers, Andrew Mee and Lance Fanthorp for a pair of TD receptions, while Dustin Kurilko accounted for the fifth TD reception.

Hurricane head coach Robin Vida was not pleased with his squad, and felt as though preparation, or in this case a severe lack of not being prepared, was the key factor.

“We must do a better job of getting the kids prepared and ready to play. I’m really surprised that we didn’t compete tonight, ” Vida said.

Little Miami gained 265 yards in rushing, led by Chris Albertson with 93 yards on 13 carries and Jamie Westbrook added 92 yards on seven carries. For the Hurricane, Quinten Rollins had over 100 yards rushing (107) on 20 carries, while quarterback Brandon Arehart carried five times for 69 yards.

Arehart completed 17 of his 34 pass attempts for 176 yards. He had four passing touchdowns in the game, connecting with Brady Camp in the second quarter, Kyle Blakeman in the second and third quarters, and a fourth quarter strike to Nyles Williams.

Next Friday Wilmington will play its 2008 Homecoming game versus FAVC for Amelia. Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm at Williams Stadium on the campus of Wilmington College
