BAINBRIDGE - Playing their second game in as many days, the Whiteoak Lady 'Cats battled until the very end, but eventually fell to host Paint Valley 46-36, Saturday morning in the Lady 'Cats Classic in Bainbridge.
Whiteoak (0-2) improved from their game on Friday night according to head coach Steve Smith.
"We were much improved from the night before," he said. "We played better overall and we were in the game until we were forced to foul at the end."
Paint Valley (2-0) went 7-for-11 in the fourth quarter from the free-throw line to seal the victory.
Paint Valley's Abby Walls led the Lady Bearcats with a game-high 14 points.
Whiteoak was led by junior Ashleigh Blair with 11 points. Blair finished 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, while also making a 3-pointer in the contest.
"Ashleigh (Blair) was our leading scorer and improved from Friday night," Smith said. "All the girls played better, but the free throws at the end hurt us and they (Paint Valley) made the shots when they needed to."
WHS junior Emily Hargett finished with eight points.
Paint Valley led at the half 21-16.
The Lady 'Cats will hit the road on Thursday night, as they will take on Southern Hills League rival Manchester at 6 p.m.
