Western Brown senior running back Shawn Davis may not have reached his game average of 200 yards while facing a sturdy East Clinton defense, but he did come through when the Broncos needed him most.

Until Friday night, no team this season had come within two touchdowns of defeating the skilled crew of Broncos, but the East Clinton Astros (now 1-3) were out for blood on the hot, steamy gridiron.

After capping a 61-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run by Steve McFadden, East Clinton's Nick McCord reached the end zone on a reverse for a two-point conversion to even up with the Broncos at 32 with 2:21 to go in the fourth. Defense on both ends prevailed for the final few minutes, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, it didn't take long for Davis to break off a 14-yard carry for a touchdown, which proved to be enough for the Broncos to leave Lees Creek with their fourth win of the season, upping their overall record to 4-0 for the season and 3-0 against teams in the Southern Buckeye Conference.

Davis finished with 146 yards on the ground and just over 30 yards pass receiving.

Western Brown senior quarterback Travis Taylor rushed for 158 yards, passed for 126 yards and ran in four touchdowns to lead the Bronco offense in Friday's overtime thriller over the Astros.
