After beginning the game more than one week before, the West Union Lady Dragons and the Eastern Pike Lady Eagles were able to resume play at the McDonald’s tournament on Sunday, April 27. The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Dragons in a run-rule victory with a score of 10-0.

West Union had been tormented by heavy rainfall in the first inning of the match-up on Saturday, April 19 and Eastern Pike had accumulated four runs due to to this. The Lady Dragons were able to place a batter on first and second during their at-bat before the game was called off due to weather.

As the game resumed play in the bottom of the first, the Lady Eagles solid defense kept West Union from scoring. The second inning gave Eastern Pike two more runs, but with solid pitching from Alexandria Bowles, West Union was able to end the Lady Eagles at-bat. The Lady Dragons were unable to place a run in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Eagles accumulated another four runs in the top of the third, making the score 10-0. Still unable to secure a solid batting streak, it began to look as if Eastern Pike would be able to hold on to their lead.

The fourth and fifth innings remained scoreless for both teams with each team delivering several strikeouts and strong plays from both sides of the field. With this, the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Dragons with a final score of 10-0 and would move on to face the Lady Indians in the tournament championship match-up.
