Washington girls, Miami Trace boys capture SCOL middle school track titles PDF Print E-mail

The South Central Ohio League held its 2008 middle school track meet Wednesday at Miami Trace High School.

Fayette County was represented quite well as the Washington Lady Lions won the girls meet and the Miami Trace Panthers won the boys title.

On the girls’ side, Washington was first with 140.5 points. Miami Trace was second with 119 points, followed by London with 100 points and Clinton-Massie with 70 points.

Greenfield was fifth with 55.5 points, followed by Hillsboro with 49.5 and Madison Plains with 45.5 points.

On the boys’ side, Miami Trace captured first place with 119 points. Clinton-Massie and Hillsboro tied for second with 115 points each.

Washington Middle School was fourth with 94.5 points; London was fifth with 77.5, Greenfield was sixth with 41 points and Madison Plains seventh with 19 points.

On the girls side, Washington had eight first place finishes at the league meet.

Carly Laswell won the 100-meter dash in a time of 14.08. Laswell won the 400-meter dash in 1:05.22.

Ashley Lovett won the 1600-meter run in 5:59.59.

Kalyn Romine won the 200-meter hurdles in a time of 34.50.

Jamisha McCrary took first in the long jump with a distance of 13’ 9 1/2”.

Jessica Guyett won the discus throw with a distance of 91’ 5”. Guyett also won the shot put with a best throw of 31’ 7 1/2”.

Taylor Shears won the pole vault with a height of 7’ 0”.

For Miami Trace, the Lady Panthers had four first place winners at the league meet.

The quartet of Theresa Elrich, B. Bryant, K. Snyder and Mackenzie Ater won the 4 x 100-meter relay in a time of 55.95.

Elrich won the 200-meter dash in a time of 29.04.

The relay team of Kylie Jo Hughes, Natasha Holloway, Kailee Baird and Madison Hisey won the 4 x 400-meter relay in a time of 4:42.92.

Logan Rowe won the high jump clearing 4’ 10”.

For the Miami Trace boys, there were four first place finishes at the league meet.

Nic Brannon won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.77.

Laike Wallace won the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.24.

The quartet of Nic Brannon, Dustin McFadden, Conner Dement and Carson Miller posted a win in the 4 x 200-meter dash in 1:50.09.

Dement, Braden Henry, Demetre Balahtsis, and Miller won the 4 x 400-meter relay in 4:09.13.

For the Blue Lions, there were three first place results.

Riley Shaw won the shot put with a throw of 41’ 4”. Shaw also won the discus throw at 156’ 7”.

Caleb Huffman won the 200-meter hurdles in 29.50.
