WILMINGTON — The Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity volleyball team lost a tough five-game match at Wilmington Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008. Scores of the games were: 25-21, 19-25, 25-12, 21-25 and 12-15. The Washington Blue Lion boys soccer team (3-2, 1-0 SCOL) continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 defeat of the Clark Southeastern Trojans at Gardner Park. While the Lions dominated the possession in the first half, outshooting the visitors 12-1, their only goal came at the 27 minute mark by senior captain Tyler Kimmet. Washington found the net with more consistency in the opening fifteen minutes of the second half with three more scores by Kimmet. The Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season with an SCOL-opening win at Madison Plains Thursday, Aug. 28. Scores of the games were: 25-14, 25-13 and 25-20. Aubrey Kiger led the team in serving. Madison Brown did a good job in the setting department, according to head coach Doug Mace. The Circleville Tigers overcame a 13-0 halftime deficit here Friday night to post a 27-13 win over the host Washington Blue Lions. It was a tale of two halves as the Blue Lions had virtually everything go their way in the first half, only to see the Tigers come out and score 27 unanswered points in the second half. “The big thing was, we gained confidence there in the second half,” Circleville head coach Keith Downing said. “Riley Kiser, a sophomore, made a big play for us; so did Clay Davis.
