The scoring began on a Western Brown 45-yard run from scrimmage. The Lions quickly answered on a 35-yard run by Jerome Pettiford (the two-point conversion failed).
The next score came with Caleb Huffman finding Pettiford on a 30-yard pass to the end zone. Cole Chrisman scored the two-point conversion for a score of 14-6. With no time left to go on the clock in the second quarter, Justin Hall caught a 40-yard Huffman pass with the point after failing making the halftime score 20-6. The Lions opened up the thrid quarter of play scoring on a 25-yard Huffman run with Chrisman adding the conversion for a score of 28-6. The final score of the game came on a long, clock-consuming drive in which Chrisman scored on a 12-yard run and Kyle Marine added the conversion for the final score of 36-6. “What a great game,” Washington coach Jon Creamer said. “We came out and they scored right away and I challenged these young men to respond and they did. “Our defense played terrific,” Creamer added. “Justin Hall and Adam Cook both had interceptions, Chase Enochs had a blocked punt and to top it all off they had the ball on the 1-yard line on fourth down and our defense stuffed them with a wonderful goal line stand.” Anchoring the defensive line for the Blue Lions are: Zach Blevins, Adam Phillips, Ryan Cooper, Chase Enochs, Nathan Carter and Andrew Bonecutter. “I am very proud of how they played today,” Creamer said. Washington hosts Clinton-Massie Thursday at 5 p.m. at Gardner Park. Add as favourites (16) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 535
