Cougar Bowlers Continue to Roll Well The Van Wert Bowlers continue their winning streak by striking against the Marion Local Flyers Saturday in league action, 2943 – 2085, in New Bremen. The Cougars came out rolling well in the beginning until the end. In the regular games high scores were rolled by: Eason Ladd – 236 & 215, Chris Thatcher – 228, and Ryan Heil – 222. In the baker games, the Senior Cougar lineup of Austin Anderson, Ross Thatcher, Heil, Ladd and Devin Beair were on fire as a team, rolling a 246 in the first game. With the win, the Cougars remain in a three way tie with Coldwater and Wapak at 6-1. The Cougars will be in action next Saturday traveling to Woodcrest Lanes in Union City to roll against the Versailles Tigers (5-2). The two teams were close in the first regular game with the Cougars taking a 59 pin lead. In the second game the Cougars again took the advantage by gaining 80 more pins to lead the Tigers by 139 pins through the regular games. Even though the Cougars continued to add to the pin count through the first 4 baker games, the Tigers tried to strike back in the final baker game. It was just too little too late, with the Cougar Lady’s winning by 119 pins in the end; 2526 – 2407. High scores for the Cougars were: Kellie Mace - 243 & 183, Terry Simson – 206, Kaitlin Roberts – 191 and Tia Line – 182. Mace’s score of a 243 is a new school record, previously owned by Clarissa Dull and Tracy East of a 234. The two game series of a 426 by Mace is also a new record held by Dull of a 420. With the win, the lady’s remain in a three way tie for second place, behind Coldwater, with Wapak and Minster at 6-1. The Cougars next match will be in Union City against the Greenville Green Wave (4-3) next Saturday.
