Columbus Grove 4, Ottoville 2 COLUMBUS GROVE – The Columbus Grove Bulldogs edged by the Ottoville Big Green by a 4-2 count Tuesday night in varsity baseball action. Ottoville led 2-1 after three innings, but then Grove plated solo runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth stanzas to collect the win. ----- Miller City 8 Delphos Jefferson 4 MILLER CITY – The Miller City Wildcats defeated their counterparts from Delphos Jefferson 8-4 Tuesday night in varsity baseball action. Miller City jumped out to an 8-2 advantage after three innings, and then held off all Jefferson (2-2) comeback attempts. Jefferson added two runs in their last at-bats. Mitch Wenzinger was credited with the victory, while Josh Miller suffered the loss for Jefferson. Rusty Lammers collected the only extra base hit of the game for Miller City (2-1) with a two-bagger. ----- Leipsic 7 Continental 4 CONTINENTAL – The Leipsic Vikings defeated the Continental Pirates by a 7-4 count in varsity baseball action Tuesday night. Luke Haselman collected the win for Leipsic, while Nik Louiselle was handed the setback for Continental (1-2). Schroeder ripped a round-tipper for Leipsic. ----- Shawnee 4 Van Wert 2 SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP – The Van Wert Cougars fell short at Shawnee Tuesday night by a 4-2 count in varsity baseball action. The Cougars scored a solo run in their first at-bats, but then did not get on the scoreboard again until posting a solo run in the sixth stanza. Shawnee took the lead with runs in the first and second innings. The Indians sealed the deal by plating two runs in the home-half of the fifth inning. Keith Hefner picked up the win for the Indians (6-0, 1-0), while Austin Anderson absorbed the setback for the Cougars (1-4, 0-1). St. John’s 17 Temple Christian 8 LIMA – The Delphos St. John’s Blue Jays erupted for 13 runs in the final two innings to rout the Temple Christian Pioneers by a 17-8 count in varsity baseball action Tuesday night. Leading hitters in the game were: (2B) – Nate Patrick 1(TC), Brian Hochstetler 1 (TC), Jeremy Kline 1 (DSJ), Vogt (DSJ), and Ty Bergfield (DSJ); (HR) – Nate Patrick (TC), Curt Metzger (DSJ), and Taylor Bowersock (DSJ). Nate Webb collected the win for St. John’s (1-4), while Shane Holloway was handed the loss for Temple (1-2).

----- Parkway 10 Crestview 1 CONVOY – Parkway wasted little time in settling this one, as the Panthers erupted with seven first inning runs on their way to a convincing 10-1 rout of the Crestview Knights Tuesday evening in varsity baseball action. The Panthers, who sent 11 hitters to the plate in that first stanza, improved to 7-0 on the season. Austin Art collected the win for Parkway, while Tony Burger absorbed the setback for Crestview. Jeremy Heiser led Parkway at the plate with a homerun and a double to his credit. Jensen Painter and Jordan Thompson also joined Heiser in the extra base stat column, as they each clubbed a two-bagger. ----- Holgate 8 Kalida 6 HOLGATE – The Kalida Wildcats fell short at Holgate, as the Tigers escaped with a two-run, 8-6 victory over the Wildcats Tuesday night in varsity baseball action. Adam Berheide (homerun) and Matt Schnipke (double) led the K-Cats at the plate. Tyler Thomas got the win for Holgate, while Preston Ellerbrock absorbed the setback for Kalida. Fort Jennings (3-2) received a homerun off the bat of Aaron Chamdler. Ross Gerdeman collected the win, while Mike Howell was handed the loss for P-G (1-2). Lincolnview 9, Hicksville 2 MIDDLE POINT – The Lincolnview Lady Lancers proved to be too much for the visiting Hicksville Lady Aces Tuesday night, as the locals scored a 9-2 win in varsity softball action. Kela Fries collected the win for the Lady Lancers, while Zimmer was handed the loss for Hicksville. Fries also led Lincolnview at the plate with a double. ----- Shawnee 8, Van Wert 1 VAN WERT – The Lady Cougars were roughed up at Jubilee Park by the Indians from Lima Shawnee by a score of 8-1. Van Wert had five miscues in the game that allow six unearned runs and help Shawnee to easy victory. The Indians scored four runs in the third inning on two hits, two errors and a hit batter. The visitors added another run in the fourth with only one hit and two more Van Wert errors. Van Wert's lone run came in the fifth when pitcher Morgan Williams led off with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and then went to third on a ground out. She reached the plate on an RBI single off the bat of Lauren Mosier. That was the Cougars only threat of the game. Shawnee's two earned runs came in the sixth starting with a lead off double by the visiting pitcher, Lingenfelter. After a strikeout, the number nine hitter was walked and followed by a single to plate the sixth run. Two batters later and another single, the score was 7-1 for the guest. Williams was on the mound and suffered the loss. She gave up 8 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and 1 walk. Williams struck out 5 Shawnee batters. Offensively for the Cougars, Ashley Harshman, Brittany Bolenbaugh and Mosier all had singles.
