*Baseball:  

Parkway takes DH from Cougars; 15-0, 7-6

ROCKFORD – The Parkway Panthers won a varsity baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon over the visiting Van Wert Cougars by the scores of 15-0 and 7-6. Parkway played long-ball in game one, as Drew Luginbill and Jordan Thompson ripped homeruns. Overall, Parkway recorded six extra base hits in the contest (2 homeruns, four doubles). The Panthers scored 11 runs in the third inning to seal the deal. Jensen Painter collected the “W” for Parkway, while Brooks Elder absorbed the setback for Van Wert. The Cougars were held to just two hits in the opener. Game two was a close contest, with Parkway prevailing in the end by a 7-6 count. Van Wert led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Parkway stormed back with four runs in their final two at-bats to claim the “W”. Parkway out-hit the Cougars 10-7 as Eddie Burtch and Jordan Thompson recorded two-baggers. Alan Leatherman led VW in the extra base hit department with a triple, while teammates Alix Lucena and Brooks Elder cracked doubles. Ethan Hayes collected the win for Parkway, while Thatcher was handed the loss for the Cougars.

Crestview 6 Ottoville 3

CONVOY – The Crestview Knights overcame a 2-1 deficit to claim a 6-3 victory over their counterparts from Ottoville in varsity boy’s baseball action Saturday. Trailing 2-1 heading into the home-half of the fourth inning, Crestview’s bats came alive, as the Knights’ diamond men pushed four runs across the plate. Briggs Orsbon and Michael Goings each collected round-trippers for the Knights, while Ian Zellers recorded a double. Jacob Laudon (HR) and Alex Koch (2B) led Ottoville at the plate. Ian Clay (1-0) earned the win for Crestview, as Ottoville could only muster three hits on the day. Meanwhile, Crestview registered a total of nine hits on Ottoville pitching, as Alex koch absorbed the setback for the Big Green.

O-G sweeps Paulding in DH; 6-3, 8-7 

OTTAWA – The Ottawa-Glandorf Titans recorded two victories Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Paulding. O-G won the first game 6-3 as the Titans broke a 3-3 tie with a three run third inning. Trent Haughn led the Titans offense with a homerun. Overall, O-G cracked 10 hits in game one. Haughn also collected the win for O-G, while Hayden Sholl was handed the setback for Paulding. Paulding collected three doubles in the contest. In game two, both teams recorded nine hits, but O-G tallied two runs in their final at-bats to win by one, 8-7. Paulding had led 5-0 after one inning of play. Tyler Leatherman earned the win for O-G, while Zach Stallkamp absorbed the loss for Paulding.

COLUMBUS GROVE -- Montpelier swept Columbus Grove in doubleheader action, winning the first game 4-1, and then the second contest 6-5.

In the opener, Ben Hamon picked up the win for the Locos, while driving in three runs in the top of the second.

In the nightcap, Matt Peters led Montpelier (3-0) with two singles and a double while Brit Moore added three singles and Ben Hamon added two singles and a double.

After each team posted a first inning run, the game remained scoreless until the Lady Knights pushed across a solo run in the seventh inning. Morgan Hicks was the winning pitcher for Crestview, while Chelsea Lingenfelter was handed the loss for Shawnee.
