*(VW golf team places fourth at Arlington; Doidge on all-tourney team):ARLINGTON -- The Van Wert golf team traveled to Sycamore Springs Golf Course just outside of Arlington to play in the Liberty Benton Invitational. Van Wert, behind Sophomore Blake Doidge's 77, finished in a tie for fourth place with Willard and Van Buren. The team total score was 329. Senior Andrew Bayshore was the second scorer for the Cougars as he carded an 83. Fellow classmates, Zack Leatherman and Brock Thatcher, contributed to the scoring as they shot 84 and 85 respectively. Sophomore Brandt Taylor (88) and Senior Austin Doidge (89) rounded out the team effort.The ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM was paced by match medalist Zack Davenport (Bryan) as he fired a one over par 73.*Also on the tournament team: 2. James Steele 75 Bryan; 3. JJ Jackson 76 Elida; 4. Nolen Eli 76 Genoa; 5. Jake Hollabaugh 76 Bryan; 6. Blake Doidge 77 Van Wert;Bryan won the event with a 301 and Genoa was second with a 320. Shelby was close behind with 322, good for third.For spots 7-12, Wauseon 334, Elida 344, Defiance 353, Kenton 381, Bath 388, and host Liberty Benton 397 completed the field.Van Wert will travel to Country Acres to participate in the Kalida Invitational at 9:00 a.m. today.-----*(Lincolnview golfers win tri-match):LIMA -- The Lincolnview boy's golf team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a tri-match win over NWC-rivals Spencerville and Allen East. Lincolnview scored a 181, while Spencerville and Allen East carded a 189 and a 195, respectively. Drew Doner led the Lancers with a 43.-----*(Lincolnview selling all-sports passes):MIDDLE POINT -- The Lincolnview Athletic Department has announced that all-sports passes are available in the high school office, as of now. The passes are good for all sporting events for students and all events except varsity boys' basketball for the adult passes. The prices of the passes are $50 for students, $50 for adults or $70 a couple. -----*(Crestview golfers drive past Jefferson):DELPHOS -- The Crestview Knights opened their Northwest Conference golf season with a victory Tuesday against Jefferson in Delphos. Crestview recorded a 175 while the Wildcats earned a 178 and Ada finished with a 242. The showdown with Jefferson was a conference match making the Knights 1-0 on the season in the NWC and 2-0 overall. Jamin Rager was the round's medalist with a 38. Chandler Hurless shot a 42 with Jarrett Upchurch recorded a 47. Tyler Clifton added a 48. The Knights will hit the course again on Thursday when they take part in the Lancer Invitational hosted by Lincolnview.-----*(Crestview announces football ticket sales for Parkway game):
CONVOY -- The Crestview Athletic Department will sell pre-sale tickets for the August 22nd varsity football game with Parkway in the Athletic Office next week. Scheduled selling times will be Thursday, August 21st from 5-6 p.m. and Friday, August 22nd from 1-3 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students.
