(*Van Wert hosting wiffleball tourneys): VAN WERT - Two area wiffleball tournaments take center stage in the next few weeks. First, the Van Wert ACME and Jr. ACME baseball teams will host a double-elimination wiffleball tournament on July 26 at Smiley Park. The tournament was originally scheduled for July 4, but was moved because of the ACME sectional tournament. Contact Charlie Witten 238-9707 or Darla Dunlap 238-0980 for further information. Entry deadline is Wednesday, July 23. Then, the 2nd Annual Rib Fest Wiffleball Tournament is set for Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. This will be a double elimination tournament with two divisions. For the youth division (17 years and under) the entry fee is $75 per team, while the adult division (18 years and up) entry fee is $100 per team. ----- (*Lima Warriors update): LIMA -- Coach Parkins is available to the media, just call (419) 371-0423 or (419) 371-9976 to set up an interview with him. The Warriors got back on the winning track with a 38-14 win over the West Michigan Force out of Grand Rapids, Mi. This week the Warriors travel to Grand Rapids to take on the Grand Rapids Thunder. Lima is winless against the Thunder with the last meeting in August 2006. This was also the last Warrior loss prior to the loss three weeks ago. Lima is outscoring its opponents 210-44 through five games. Lima is averaging 35 points per game while giving up an average of 7.3. This is the fifth matchup between the two teams, Grand Rapids leads the series 4-0. It's also the first season for Grand Rapids in the USFA. Grand Rapids is undefeated with a record of 6-0, Lima is 5-1. Both teams are 1 & 2 in the conference standings for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 P.M. The game will be available via online broadcast at the teams website (www.limawarriors.com) starting at 5:30 P.M. with the pregame show. Aaron Matthews serves as the play by play voice while Devon Jones will handle the color commentary. The Warriors come back home on July 26th taking on the Ohio Outlawz. ----- (*Crestview holds soccer camp): CONVOY -- This past week the Crestview Varsity Girls Soccer Team held a 3-Day Soccer Camp for area youth ages seven to fourteen. The campers worked on fundamentals like dribbling, passing and shooting.
