(*VW Legion update): VAN WERT - The Van Wert Legion Post 178 finished the weekend 1-1 in the district tournament played at VW's Smiley Park Field. The locals opened the day with a 21-1 setback to Sidney, but then rebounded by pounding St. Marys 27-1in an elimination game. VW faces Sidney Tuesday evening at Smiley Park with a start time of 7 p.m. The winner will move on to Wednesday evening's district title game against undefeated Lima. (Lima beat St. Marys 17-7 in eight innings on Saturday and then topped Sidney 13-10 on Sunday.) *Game Stats will be posted later today! ----- (*Lima Warriors update): GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Justin Henderson threw three touchdown passes when the Lima Warriors beat the Grand Rapids Thunder 24-6 on Saturday. The Warriors trailed 6-2 at halftime before erupting for three second-half scores. Grand Rapids took the lead on a 76-yard blocked field goal return. The Warriors' only first-half score was a safety by John Loesser. After Brent Ridenour's 38-yard field goal made it 6-5, Henderson connected with Joe Butcher (14 yards), Kaene Runion (28 yards, 19 yards) for scores in the second half. The Warriors are 6-1 this season. They will play the Ohio Outlaws at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lima Stadium, a game that will include a national championship celebration. ----- (*Final VW-Area youth baseball results): Inner County League
Congratulations to Middle Point for winning the Inner County Tournament Championship against the Van Wert Vision Cubs.  It was a great game with the competition we would expect from the League Champ Cubs vs the Runner-Up Champs Middle Point.  It was a great season for all for our first year as the Inner County League.

Tri-County League
Congratulations to the Delphos Chevy Reds for winning The Tri-County Tournament Championship against the League Champ Fort Jennings Musketeers.  It was a great season for teams involved.  Van Wert Youth Baseball wants to Thank the Tri-County Little League for inviting us to join for our first year in this traveling league.

Buckeye Boys Pony League
Congratulations to Middle Point for winning the Buckeye Boys Pony League regular season three years running & topping it with winning the Tournament Championship against Ohio City.  Congratulations also to Ohio City for a fine season by taking Runner-Up in both the league and tournament for 2008.
