VW-Area sectional baseball tourney results from Saturday

VAN WERT -- All the results from the area's sectional baseball tournaments held on Saturday are listed below.
Van Wert 5, Kenton 1The Van Wert Cougars defeated Kenton Saturday by a 5-1 count in the opening game of the Elida Division II sectional baseball tournament. Eric Miller threw a complete game four-hitter for Van Wert, while striking out four and walking none. Alan Leatherman led the Cougars offense attack with two doubles. Van Wert will take on Celina at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18. ----- Paulding 5, Swanton 3Haden Sholl doubled, singled and had two RBI’s as Paulding won by a 5-3 count over Swanton in the Division III sectional baseball tournament at Patrick Henry Saturday. Jarod Riley picked up the pitching victory for the Panthers. Paulding advances to play Liberty Center at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14. ----- Ottoville 6, Lincolnview 2Ottoville struck for six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 6-2 win over Lincolnview Saturday in the Division IV sectional baseball tournament at Crestview. Matt Niemeyer doubled and Alex Odenweller had two RBI’s to lead the Big Green. Colby Basinger picked up the win for Ottoville (9-11), which will play Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14. Brock Profit had two doubles and one RBI for Lincolnview. ----- Fort Jennings 5, Wayne Trace 3The Fort Jennings Musketeers defeated Wayne Trace by a 5-3 count in the Division IV sectional at Crestview Saturday. Matt Krietemeyer doubled and singled to lead Fort Jennings to the win. The Musketeers will now play Delphos Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Josh Calvelage had two RBI’s for the Musketeers, while teammate Ross Gerdeman got the win.
