VW-Area ACME update:

Lincolnview 13, Jefferson 12

The Lincolnview ACME baseball team bolted to a big lead, and then withstood several Delphos Jefferson rallies to hold on for a 13-12 victory. Lincolnview had led 11-1 at one point in the contest. With the victory Lincolnview moves to 3-4 on the season and 2-3 in league play. Jordan Simpson (3-for-4 with two triples and a double) led the Lancers at the plate. Matt Evans took the win for Lincolnview, going six innings for the Lancers and allowing nine runs on 11 hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Jordan Simpson came on in relief, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Ben Babcock absorbed the setback for Jefferson, going 2 1/2 innings and allowing 11 runs on 11 hits with a hit batter and two stirkeouts. Nick Cook came in on relief for the Wildcats and allowed the final two runs. The Lancers next game is tonight at home against Ottoville, while Jefferson plays again on Friday against Delphos St. John's at Delphos' Wildcat Field.

Lady Cougars 7, Lincolnview 1

The Van Wert Lady Cougars defeated their counterparts from Lincolnview by a 7-1 count in summer softball action. Van Wert hurler Morgan Williams brought her "A" game, striking out 15 Lincolnview batters, including the last six. Overall, Williams allowed the one run on five hits with no walks and 15 strikeouts. Kela Fries took the loss for Lincolnview, allowing seven runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Alexa Gent led the Lady Cougars at the plate with a pair of hits, a stolen base, and a run scored. Van Wert (2-0) next plays tonight at Crestview.
