The Van Wert Cougars defeated the St. John’s Blue Jays Wednesday night by a 6-5 count in an ACME baseball sectional elimination game.
The win propelled the Cougars to next week’s district tournament at Minster, but first, the sectional title must be decided against undefeated (tournament) Crestview. The Knights and Cougars will face each other at 5 p.m. tonight at Smiley Park. If the Cougars win that game, the two squads will go head-to-head, again, at 7:30 p.m. Regardless of the outcome, both teams are moving on to Minster.
