TIFFIN - The Van Wert boys cross country team finished 22^nd overall out of 52 teams at Saturday's prestigious Tiffin Carnival.

Jacob Bagley led the Cougars with a 25^th place finish (352 runners) in a time of 16:42.

Kenton Holliday was the second Van Wert runner to cross the finish line, in 71^st place (17:27).

Rounding out the varsity for the Cougars were Brian Easley (17:49); Nick Kallas (18:20); Luke Brubaker (18:37); Nathan Simson (19:13) and Luke Strick (19:35).

In the junior varsity race, the Cougars finished 14^th out of 24 teams. Bjoern Mohr led Van Wert with a 55^th place finish (19:27). Rounding out the junior varsity were Josh Roberts (19:44); Dustin Farmer (19:48); Brian Voisard (20:18); Cody Haines (20:52) and Adam Saylor (21:29).

Van Wert coach Mark Altstaetter said there were many outstanding individual performances on Saturday.

"This is about as competitive as you can get," Altstaetter said. "We had seven runners record either seasonal or personal best times on Saturday.

"Jacob had a stellar race, along with the rest of the pack. I'm seeing our pack (of runners) starting to develop. But, we still need to work on closing the gaps."

Van Wert's overall record stands at 51-23.
