VAN WERT -- All VW-Area Fall Sport's coaches are asked to submit their team's previews by August 15 (see preview form below). As the previews are submitted, they will be posted on the web. Teams included in the VW-Area are: Van Wert, Crestview, Lincolnview, Parkway, Wayne Trace, Paulding, Antwerp, Delphos St. John's, and Delphos Jefferson.
VAN WERT -- The Van Wert Parks Department will be offering Flag Football again this year. There will be two age divisions. The younger age group will consist of participants ages 6-8. The second age group will be ages 9-11 years old. Both age groups will be co-ed. Games will be played Tuesday evenings for the 6-8 age group and Thursday evenings for the 9-11 age group. If you are unable to visit the website, please visit our Jubilee office at 137 Gleason Ave to fill out a registration form and pay the league fees. Please register by Aug 8th. If registration fee is not paid by August 8th a late fee will be assessed. No Registrations will be taken after August 12th.
DENVER -- The Denver Broncos released two players today, but agreed to terms with 2008 fourth-round draft choice Kory Lichtensteiger, a graduate of BGSU and Crestview High School. Lichtensteiger was a four-year starter at Bowling Green State. He started all 13 games for the Falcons last season and was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy awarded to the nation's top center in addition to being named first team all conference. With the addition of Lichtensteiger the Broncos have signed six of their nine selections from the 2008 NFL Draft.
VAN WERT -- The American Legion District Tournament kicked off this weekend with the Van Wert Legion having one loss against Sidney 21-1 and one win against St. Mary's 27-1. Josh Miller pitched the first game taking the loss, while Levon Archer and Eric Lirot came in for relief.
