Lincolnview announces volleyball open gyms

MIDDLE POINT -- There will be open gyms on Tuesday, July 8, 15, and 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for any girl interested in playing junior high volleyball for Lincolnview this year. All open gyms will be held in the elementary gym. Conditioning will begin on Monday, July 28. All girls interested in playing junior high volleyball should try to attend these events.

VW Parks announces softball tourney

VAN WERT -- The Van Wert Parks Department is hosting a Men's Softball Tournament July 26-27 at Smiley Park. Registration will be open until July 23 and can be done through the park office at 137 Gleason Ave. Cost per team is $125 and teams are permitted to have sponsors. All teams' players must be 18 years of age or older. Each team is guaranteed two games and awards will be given out. Registration is based on a first come, first served basis. For further information, contact the Van Wert Parks Office at 419-238-9121. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Two VW grads place in top four of Lima 5K race

LIMA - Two Van Wert graduates placed in the top four of the men's race at Friday's Running of the Star Spangled Spectacular 5K Run held at Lima's Faurot Park. VW grads Jason Maus placed second, while Brendon Moody finished fourth. Moody's accomplishment was extra spectacular because he pushed his son in a stroller the entire race. DELPHOS - The VW-Area ACME baseball tourney, which was scheduled for play at VW's Smiley Park Field Friday on the 4^th of July, was moved to Delphos' Wildcat Field because of wet grounds.
