It is close to tournament time and that means one thing, the Crestview girl’s softball team is focused and ready to make their annual run deep into the playoffs. Friday night, Crestview proved that point on the diamond with a solid showing in their 3-1 victory over a tough Ayersville squad.
VW girls softball 6, LCC 0
Morgan Williams fired a one-hit shutout in leading the Van Wert Lady Cougars to a 6-0 whitewash of non-league foe LCC Friday night.
Bath 6, Crestview 4
The Crestview Knights bolted out to a commanding 4-1 advantage, only to watch as Lima Bath stormed back with five runs to defeat the locals 6-4.
The Knights, who fell to 13-7 on the season and will host Lima Central Catholic Thursday night.
Baseball
Wapakoneta 24, Van Wert 5
Mickie Grothause and Caleb Coil each homered twice for the Redskins in a five-inning WBL varsity baseball victory. Coil finished 3-for-4 with a double and 7 RBIs for Wapakoneta (18-3, 7-1). Cale Tabler homered, singled and had 4 RBIs. Mickie Grothause doubled and was 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs while Greg Stoll was 2-for-4. Van Wert is 7-11, 1-7.
