The Van Wert Cougars won a shoot-out in Delphos Monday night, as the locals defeated Jefferson 55-39 in a boy’s basketball non-league make-up contest in Wildcat Country.

In their final home contest of the season, the Van Wert Lady Cougars fell to WBL-foe Ottawa-Glandorf 44-40 in girl’s basketball action.
In a game that lacked offense, Van Wert led 6-4 at the first stop and 22-13 at the break. Unfortunately for the Lady Cougars, things went downhill fast from that point.

The Van Wert “Cardiac” Cougars have done it again. In what is becoming customary when the locals hit the hardwood -- VW spots their opponents a lead -- and then come charging back to steal away the “W”.

VAN WERT — Jacob Myers came off the bench to drill five 3-pointers as the Cougars edged the Redskins in a nonleague thriller.
Van Wert 54, St. Marys 38
The Van Wert Cougars won a hard fought battle Friday night over WBL foe St. Marys by a 54-38 count. Jake Olsen and Jacob Bagley each netted 13 points for the Cougars, while teammate Cory Clifton added 12 in the WBL victory.
Derek Roop scored 13 for St. Marys, while teammate Garrett Fledderjohann had 11 points.
