The Blanchester eighth grade girls basketball team will play New Richmond Wednesday for the Southern Buckeye Conference tournament championship. The game will be played at Blanchester Junior High School. After winning the regular season championship, Blanchester won the North Division tournament title with a win over Batavia, 36-27. GOSHEN — Four Wilmington wrestlers are competing in the consolation bracket of the Division II Goshen District wrestling tournament. The Hurricane wrestlers are Michael Burge, Isaac Bray, Kyle Ross and Chris Cowman. All four wrestlers were 1-1 on the first day of the tournament Friday. Competition continues at 10 a.m. Saturday. KETTERING — Blanchester’s Jake Howe and Clinton-Massie’s Corby Running were the lone Clinton County wrestlers to advance to the semifinal round Friday at the Division III Kettering District wrestling tournament at Fairmont High School’s Trent Arena. The two defending state champions are in position to win district championships after impressive wins in the first two rounds. Also, East Clinton’s Tyler Earley won his first-round consolation match with a pin in 49 seconds to stay alive in the district event. CANTON — Wilmington’s Josh Quallen and Clinton-Massie’s Margo Khalili will vie for state championships Saturday at the annual Ohio State Swimming and Diving Championship at McKinley High School’s Branin Natatorium. Also, Wilmington junior Rachael Lewis competed in the Division I 50-yard freestyle preliminaries Friday and finished in 24.5 seconds. In her third trip to the state swim meet, Lewis will be swimming for ninth place today. Khalili, making her fourth trip to state, has the third fastest time going into the final heat of the Division II 100-yard butterfly. She clocked a 58.52 in the 100 fly prelims Friday.
