The Blanchester eighth grade girls basketball team will play New Richmond Wednesday for the Southern Buckeye Conference tournament championship.

The game will be played at Blanchester Junior High School.

After winning the regular season championship, Blanchester won the North Division tournament title with a win over Batavia, 36-27.

Clinton-Massie’s indoor track and field team competed Saturday at the Ohio State University meet at French Fieldhouse.

Bayley Foell was sixth in the high jump, clearing 4-7. Erin Deatherage was 17th in the high jump at 4-3.

Alexis Percy finished 26th in the 800-meter run (2:48) and Mirja Wirtz was 29th in the 800 in 2:50.

The East Clinton seventh grade girls were defeated by Goshen, 40-13, in the Southern Buckeye Conference tournament last week.

Goshen led at halftime, 19-10.

Brooke Carpenter had four points and Kayley Bergstrom, Jessica Mack, Rebecca Lockhart and Sarah Lockhart had two points each. Jessica Dunn scored one point.

GOSHEN — Four Wilmington wrestlers are competing in the consolation bracket of the Division II Goshen District wrestling tournament.

The Hurricane wrestlers are Michael Burge, Isaac Bray, Kyle Ross and Chris Cowman. All four wrestlers were 1-1 on the first day of the tournament Friday.

Competition continues at 10 a.m. Saturday.

KETTERING — Blanchester’s Jake Howe and Clinton-Massie’s Corby Running were the lone Clinton County wrestlers to advance to the semifinal round Friday at the Division III Kettering District wrestling tournament at Fairmont High School’s Trent Arena.

The two defending state champions are in position to win district championships after impressive wins in the first two rounds.

Also, East Clinton’s Tyler Earley won his first-round consolation match with a pin in 49 seconds to stay alive in the district event.

CANTON — Wilmington’s Josh Quallen and Clinton-Massie’s Margo Khalili will vie for state championships Saturday at the annual Ohio State Swimming and Diving Championship at McKinley High School’s Branin Natatorium.

Also, Wilmington junior Rachael Lewis competed in the Division I 50-yard freestyle preliminaries Friday and finished in 24.5 seconds. In her third trip to the state swim meet, Lewis will be swimming for ninth place today.

Khalili, making her fourth trip to state, has the third fastest time going into the final heat of the Division II 100-yard butterfly. She clocked a 58.52 in the 100 fly prelims Friday.
