ARCANUM — Sidney’s Zach Yinger shot a 70 and won on a scorecard playoff to take medalist honors Thursday in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Boys Golf Tournament at Beechwood. Yinger was not only the medalist, but also earned GWOC North Division Player of the Year honors. All the GWOC teams competed in the tournament, and Sidney was fifth overall with a 314, and second among North teams, trailing fourth-place Vandalia by just two strokes.
Yinger shot an even-par 36 on the first nine, then went 2-under 34 on the second nine for his 70. Spencer Smith of Springboro also shot a 70, but Yinger won on the playoff. Jonathan Lowe and Parker Jordan both shot 80 for the Jackets. Lowe earned first-team North Division honors, and Jordan second team. Chase Rossman shot an 84 for Sidney in the tournament to round out the team scoring. Corey Teague had an 89 and Calvin Milligan 96. Lowe and Jordan tied for 30th place in the tournament.
