ANNA — Russia and Fort Loramie took top honors in the annual Shelby County Cross Country Preview, held Tuesday at Anna. The Russia boys had 41 to outdistance runner-up Lehman’s 64. And the Loramie girls had 34 to beat out Russia with 45. Russia put four runners in the top 10, with Derek bornhorst placing third, Alex York seventh, Brian Queener eighth and Chris Ball ninth. Andy Toller came in 14th.
Lehman had four runners pack together from 10-13 place in Aaron Bauer, Matt Lengerich, Christian Bauer and Andrew Elsner. Ben Freytag placed 18th. Houston’s Tyler Roeth crossed the line first in 16:41.9, followed by Sidney’s Aaron Dinzeo in 16:52.7. Anna’s Derrick Lillard was fourth in 17:14.9 and Loramie’s Tyler Meinerding fifth in 17:30.1. Teammate Jon Holland took sixth in 17:34.3. Russia sophomore Katie Borchers was first for the girls in 20:05.3, followed by Jackson Center standout Beth Zimpfer in 20:13.5. For Loramie, Janel Olberding took third, Ally Puthoff fifth, Kara Gasson seventh, Megan Fullenkamp ninth and Kylie Drees 10th, giving the lady Redskins all five in the top 10. Trevor Sherman of Russia won the race in 11:53.2, then came Trey Elchert of Jackson in 12:15.2, Nathan Hensley of Jackson in 12:19.5, and Alex Meyer of Jackson in 12:23.8. Joseph Forsythe of JC was sixth in 12:31.2, and teammate Levi Winner was seventh in 12:32.1. Adam Larger of Anna took fifth in 12:26.5, Alex Bowman of Sidney was eighth in 12:32.7, Anna’s Ryan Smith was ninth in 12:55, and Russia’s Austin Gariety rounded out the top 10 in 10th in 13:00.1. For Russia, Lauren Francis was second in 13:40.9, jackie Siefring was fourth in 14:15, Emilie Frazier sixth in 14:22.5, Kirstin Voisard seventh in 14:48.4 and Rachel Pinchot 11th in 15:26.1. Alaina Schulze of Fort Loramie was third in 14:11.2, and teammate Tara Luebke took fifth in 14:21.5. Also making the top 10 were Riley Luthman in eighth in 15:01.2, Shelbie Bailey ninth in 15:01.6, and Bethany Christman 10th in 15:16.8.
