By WADE LINVILLE Sports editor, The Ripley Bee After suffering their first league loss of the season to the Fairfield Lady Lions last week, the Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Lady Jays got back on the winning track Monday night by taking a 70-62 win over the New Richmond Lady Lions.
Ripley senior Brigett Spradling and junior Whitney Plymesser combined for 44 of the Lady Jays’ points in the win over New Richmond. Spradling recorded a double-double in the win, shooting for 24 points to lead Ripley scorers and pounding the boards for 13 rebounds. Plymesser knocked down six field goals, including two three-pointers, and shot a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe to finish with 20 points. Meagan Kirschner also scored in double figures for the Lady Jays, hitting one field goal and shooting 9-16 from the foul line to finish with 11 points. Kirschner also dished for four assists in the win over New Richmond. A close game throughout, the Lady Jays outscored the Lady Lions 18-10 in overtime to bring home the win. The Lady Jays held an overall record of 7-2 following the win over New Richmond and stood at 2-1 in the league. The Lady Jays are back in action tonight in an away game against Blanchester.
