The Payne (Ohio) Ball Association is sponsoring a baseball hitting/skills clinic on Saturday, February 27 at Wayne Trace High School. Tom Held, head coach at Defiance High School and one of the most respected coaches in Ohio, is the featured clinician along with the Defiance coaching staff and players. The Wayne Trace coaching staff and players will also be assisting. The Wayne Trace girl’s golf team recently competed in the Defiance Invitational on Thursday, August 13, at the Kettering Country Club. The Lady Raiders finished tenth out of 15 teams at the event. Toledo Whitmer took home first place. Wayne Trace's Kacee Hockenberry took second place individually with a score of 81. The other Lady Raider scorers were Ashley Saylor (101), Olivia Hook (123), Aryn Denny (128), and Katelyn Hughes (138). The Lady Raiders will next travel to Lima Shawnee for a competition on Tuesday, August 18.
PAULDING -- The Paulding High School Athletic Department will induct three new members into its athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Aug. 28. The new inductees are former teacher, athletic director and head football coach Steve Clark; former athlete Joel Parrett and former teacher, head football and track coach Leo Stiger.
PAYNE – The Paulding eight and under boys baseball team claimed the Payne All Star Tournament Championship, recently. Paulding opened the tournament with consecutive wins over New Haven and Homer before dropping a contest to host Payne. However, Paulding then rebounded to beat New Haven before winning twice over Payne to win the championship.
