Title: Can Clinton Massie Do It? Post by: bigd70 on September 14, 2007, 04:02:39 PM Clinton Massie football has made it to the state playoffs 5 years in a row, this year, if they make it and early preditions and assumptions are that they will, will be 6 times. In those 5 years they have made it they have been undefeated 1 time(2003) they have made it to the regional championship 1 time(2003)in which they finally lost to versailles 42-7 to finish the season 12-1. Now Can massie go undefeated again? And will massie ever make it out of the region and compete in canton or massilon for a state title? Not that the other 4 teams were not good but they just got beat in the end, we have a very good thing going on making it to state year in and year out, but when is just making state not good enough? when does mr. keith mattison decide this program has to make it one more or even two more steps forward to be where he wants it to be?
Title: Re: Can Clinton Massie Do It? Post by: mhuber on October 02, 2007, 01:42:18 PM I don't think there's any doubt CM will make it 2 deep into the tournament. At that point, we'll see who they get and how they match up. In years past, they just didn't have the matchup in their favor to go on to the Final 4. Just curious, what does Mattison have to do with the football program and its success?
Title: Re: Can Clinton Massie Do It? Post by: bigd70 on October 02, 2007, 03:12:47 PM Mattison being the A.D. when does he decide that massie needs a coach that is succesfull in the playoffs? Or what it all leads back to is coaching more then just the run.
Title: Re: Can Clinton Massie Do It? Post by: xeniaballer on October 02, 2007, 09:24:04 PM bigd70, what are you trying to get at? You must give credit where credit is deserved. Dan has built a program that is second to none. Massie has had some excellent teams and was just unfortunate that the teams they were meeting late in the playoffs were exceptional to say the least. You are correct about the run. It has began at massie with the establishment of a solid football program. Mattison, like any other a.d. i am sure is glade to see such a stable program. At the point were the program is now, no one in their right mind, not even the a.d. would say the program is falling short of expectations and expect more wins.
Title: Re: Can Clinton Massie Do It? Post by: bigd70 on October 03, 2007, 02:20:40 PM baller: im by no means saying dan hasnt done a great job. But when your going to the playoffs year in and year out and not coming home with a title, you are falling short, and you are apparently second to somebody. I think last year and in 2003 massie had the teams to win state, but folded. I don't think anybody in there right mind would get rid of dan, but heres another question how long does dan stay at d4 massie with this much success before moving on to a bigger program where he can win a state championship?
Title: Re: Can Clinton Massie Do It? Post by: xeniaballer on October 03, 2007, 07:02:58 PM That is anybody's guess. I think he will be at massie for many years to come. Basically due to the fact he has established a solid program and that great family and community ties are a huge factor to consider if you are thinking about moving on. You know i am not a massie alum but there program is what it is, solid.
