Jonathan Alder Invitational Reults

Three Madison County teams competed at the 41st Annual
Jonathon Alder Invitational on Saturday, which was won
handily by North Union.
The host Pioneers were led to a fifth place finish by
Chris Roby.  Roby dominated his pool by winning all
four matches with Pins, none taking longer that 1:09,
before capturing the 171 class with a 9-3 decision
over Brian Mace of Athens. "He had a good tournament.
Hopefully he will be ready for next weekend" said
Coach Ron Thomas. Other JA placers were Andy Ferrand
(112), Steven Picklesimon (119) and Bo Berry (152) who
each finished third in their classes, while Sean
Fleming (135) captured fourth. "As young as we are,
our kids wrestled well" said Thomas.

The London Red Raiders finished fourth as a team.
Shane Silvers at 189 had his best showing of the year
as runner up in his weight class.  Also finishing
second were the brothers Morris, Mike (103) and Tony
(135).  Ronnie Colvin (112) and Sean Kelly (285) had
strong showings as fourth place finishers.

Coach Roger Geers brought a small Golden Eagle
contingent to wrestle.  I "just want to get a couple
of my kids matches" said Geers.  Although Madison
Plains only brought 5 wrestlers, David Evans (145) and
Chris Simon (285) each brought home the big trophies
as Champions.

The other Champs for the day were: Zach Tinch, Mount
Gilead ( 103), Joe Poling, North Union (112), Jordan
Deady, Triad (119), Charlie Gerren, Athens (130), Cody
Irwin, Worthington Christian (135), Colin McCreary,
Fairbanks (140), Chris Albanese, Fairbanks (145),
Daniel Foley, Worthington Christian (152), Colin
Heasley, Worthington Christian (160), Joe Wasserbeck,
North Union (189) and Gabe Albanese, Fairbanks (215).

Both Jonathon Alder and London will be in action next
weekend at the Sally George Invitational in Marion.
