howie, lets get one thing straight we arent the ones bashing E.C. . your the one talking bad about the school and the board.... and like i said before go read some of my previous post about the talent. when kids cant stand to play for a guy because he doesnt care for them and then the  football team has a few good years then all the kids care about is playing football while dusty is off fishing or running around with his greenfield buddys instead of encouraging the kids to come to the gym or having meetings with them one on one letting them know what he wants them to work on........... no instead he would rather not even look at his players after the season is over....... a lot of people dont realize he is the reason our baseball team got in the same shape it is in........ when he was trying to coach both in the same year. WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a disaster that was the first week of the season in baseball everyyear he wasnt even at practice he was at the basketball state tournment....... MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was really caring about his kids............. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yea i heard a couple of days ago he went in to the a.d.'s office whining about how much he cared about his kids cmon man give me a break

exastro:  You must be one of the school board members!  And blaming the state of the Baseball program on him.  I do believe when Coach Miller coached Baseball they were pretty successful.  I won't disagree that maybe Coach Miller should of spent more time in the summer with the kids but I also know how kids are today and especially at a small school like East Clinton getting them to be at everything in the summer is not going to happen. Time will tell when this decision will come back to haunt the board and the parents whose toes were stepped on. There is more to life than coaching and Coach Miller will turn out the winner in the long run on this one.

I have to strongly disagree with the talent statement - there was some talent there this year.  A properly coached team, with proper substitutions and conditioning could have easily gone at least 13-7 this year.

Keep in mind, the team played quite competively against Georgetown twice this year.  Being at both games, it was disgusting to watch the poor coaching.  I believe EC could have won the game at Georgetown - and that was without two starters.  I hope whoever the coach is will realize how important free throws, conditioning, and taking proper shots are.

There must be something in the water in Leescreek! We should have won! Than in the same statement 2 starters out? Maybe coaching had something to do with staying with the State Champions. Coaches do not shoot foul shots.  From the way it sounds Coach Miller just rolled the balls out and didn't do anything!!!!!!! Ask VanMatre how well Coach Miller can coach!  I like the people of Lees Creek but your expectations are unreal!

Howie, Not one time did I bad mouth EC. Now have I had my say over the years about the going ons at the school, yes I have, and last I check I have that right as citizen of the US. So if my opinion is that Mr Ed needs to go then I'm allowed, I have no problem if your opinion is different but I will not sit here and listen to you call me names or bad mouth me.
Yes EC might lack some talent but last I checked that was part of the coaches job to build that talent and make sure that the best ones come out for the team which we know haven't happened at EC. If Mr Ed is such a great coach and winner then you shouldn't worry about him cause the schools should be lining up outside his dr or in his case his boatdock to get him hired.

Ex on the school Board. I have heard it all now. I know for a fact he isn't but anytime he wants to run the Z man will be his campaign mgr.

Ex, Another tidbid for you. When he met with the players the 1st thing out of his mouth was" I'm not going to hold anything against any of you even tho I know  all of your  parents and several of your  grandparents signed forms to get rid of me"  What a class act, if that's not a threat I don't know what is. By the way I'm still waiting on that lunch.

Hey guys, let's try to get into some positive thoughts here instead of the bashing. Does anyone know who or how many applicants for the job? Seems like Ryan Briggs is a perfect fit. East Clinton born and raised. He is young, but experienced. He led the Rockets to their best ever record and their first ever SHL championship.

hey i played for miller before. i know during the season one would hate him because of what he said to some of his players. then after the season was over one would laugh at the things he said. at the end of the year one would think that honestly he isnt that bad of a coach. now ya he did make some bad decision but what coach doesn't. now ya this is starting to look like the helms deal all over again but sh** happens

See, that is the problem.  Coaching is NOT a seasonal job.

And, the response to the foul shots comment - I am not sure I understand.  My point is this - with the Astros shooting percentage so low on foul shots, they should be practicing them until they make more or their arms fall off.  Quality practices are one ingredient to winning.

Sure, there could be a bit of lacking talent from some players or some that were overrated, but in the end, with the right coach, any team can be successful.  For example, look at Greenfield under coach VanMatre.  Even in years of low talent, his record was respectable.  2 - 18 is not respectable.  When you hear people laugh at your school, it is embarassing.  And, who picked out the Astros away uniforms?  I would be embarassed to play in those.

Let's face it, Dusty was bored and just going through the motions. Our kids deserve better than that.

also, out of 6 coach's in the bb program from JH to Varsity, only 2 were teacher's. It's obvious that there aren't any teachers in the system interested in coaching. Maybe its time to look outside the system. I'm all for a teacher getting the first shot at coaching but if I had to choose between a teacher not being commited to his/her sport and a non-teacher who is willing to put in the time and effort of building a program, I'll take the non-teacher every time. The kids deserve it.

good luck to those doing the hiring.

I have only heard of one teacher being interested in the job and he is more interested in the girls job first and that would be Tracy Fliehman. I agree though whoever gets it should try and get Woodruff involved somewhere although I heard he was interested in the girls side of it too. Not 100% positive on this stuff just what I have heard.

gatorhater, wait a minute lmao at the name. Z is going to be mad at me for saying this but i hear that ohio state is changing there nickname to GATORBAIT sorry Z just kidding. couldnt resist.ok gatorbait you couldnt of said it better , Dusty was just going through the motion and it is sad because he knows the game. i know that from first hand experience. very knowledgable of the game. so that could mean only one thing no matter what anyone says he didnt care about the kids or he would of committed more time in the summer........... thats why coach hopper give it up because he knew it took more of his time then he was wanting to give up. the game has changed so much, it is more an up and down game meaning running and gunning and if you cant shoot the three then you are in for along season. shooting the 3 requires alot of practice in the off season and i  think if these kids nowadays dont have a coach pushing them to work at it they wont. so my advice to the people at E.C. doing the hiring is they had better find someone that is all about the kids and not themselves ( DUSTY )............ and Z i havent forgot you on lunch  i'll call ya

ex, I hope those boys on those UF forums don't hear about that gatorbait nickname. I'm pretty sure they're not smart enough to think of it on their own.

but seriously , what do we need to do to get that "ex" off your name and get you back on the bandwagon. We need all the supporters we can get and hate to loose any we have.

gator, trust me the astros never lost me as a fan if i really wasnt a fan then i wouldnt of been on here trying to make changes or speaking my peace..... if i was just on here starting trouble then i wouldnt let anyone know who i am, but if you have read my earlier post you should know who i am.......... and the ones that dont then they arent very close to the e.c. sports program anyway. just because some played at e.c. dont mean they know what they are talking about........ i might of seen some of the same veiws as dusty if he wouldnt of got off on the wrong foot from the start. but he made some statements about some people close to me in heart and it is very hard to forget them......... he once said to a wilmington newpaper guy who no longer works there. " how many championships did woodruff and hooper put on the wall " and that really struck a nerve with me because if it wasnt for coach hooper telling fouch he was ready for the job he wouldnt of got it............ so let this be the question of the day. who made the boys basketball program better HuhHuhHuhHuh? woodruff and hooper or dusty........ i rest my case.

Gator, Trust me Ex is a fan and always will be it's in his blood but he is like me he gets tired of the just show up and play attitude that the guys that make the decisions have  and never once setting any standard for our coaches to meet. I'm tired this just little ole EC no way to win often attitude. I always ask why is it other small school around have winning programs every year. We only have to look across the county to see that happening, I guess the water must be different down there. I'll get of my soapbox got to head for work.

EX, Anymore comment like that and I won't lead your SB campaign. Course maybe if I won't Howie-Dodi willl, I can see that you 2 are bonding nicely. If your not doing anything tonight stop by the local watering hole, I sure U can find me.
