My vote would be for the Georgetown district championship game with Ansonia. The district title had been the goal for several years and as the game wound down it was very emotional. You could almost feel the weight lifting as the time expired. It has been a pleasure to watch the Gmen this season and I hope to see 2 MORE GMEN VICTORIES. Congrats to all of the members of this team and particularly Jay Chadwell he was named 3rd team all-state today.
Good luck to the G-men, Hope Jay Chadwell is ok. Just FYI,,, Houston and Russia are in the same league and have a huge rivalry so you can throw out the records in those kind of games. Houston would be regional semi's, Gmen have to take care of Ansonia to win the district. One thing that is fact the Gmen should be gunning for Houston after last year's district title game. I hope to see the Gmen at Columbus
IMO,,, Fville will not beat Lockland. I hope they prove me wrong. I really like the Johnson kid, he is their best outside threat when you scout them, and he still gets/hits the big shots. I WISH THEM AND ALL OF OUR SHL/SBC TEAMS GOOD LUCK IN THE TOURNY. Gtown will take care of Eastern and complete their 20-0 season. Congratulations to Jay Chadwell on POY he truly deserved it. Anyone know who was POY in the big school side of SBC?
I'm pretty sure Gtown would go undefeated in the SHL. There as good as the Eastern team that went undefeated a few years ago. If Gtown went to Athens they would, IMO get to Columbus. I do not know if they will get there from the SW district. They will have to get by Lockland and/or Russia both tough teams. Good luck Gmen.
If you look at the 3 pt shooting %'s from the website on page 1 of this post none of these guys are putting up great shooting numbers. If you watch the games from big and small schools, IMO, Jay Chadwell is without a doubt the best player in this league. I would say in big school Greer, Terry or Slusher will be POY. They are not the player overall that Jay Chadwell is though. Just as none of the big school's are able to compete with Gtown. No big school players match up to Chadwell. The best job any big school player has done on Chadwell was in the 2nd WB game when Drew Williams held him to 12 including a half-court buzzer beater at the end of the 1st half. In that game Gtown was down in the 4th quarter and Jay Chadwell had 2 big layups off of set plays and 4 big free throws. I am not even a Gtown fan, but I am able to look at players from all teams in this league and objectively rate them. Chadwell is the best overall player in this league since Ryan Seescholtz.
IMO Gtown will beat CNE. Bronco Pride, have you seen Eastern this year? Eastern has very little chance of beating Gtown. I would expect Gtown will not lose before the Tourny. Gtown Fan 00,,, Just so you know Gtown has only been at their best when they have played poor teams. This league is way down this year and Gtown has not dominated like a really good team would/should. They are not playing at the same level as last year,,, yet. I do agree that coaches Underwood, Young, and Young do a great job at getting them ready and game management/adjustments. If they can get past Lockland or Russia in the districts, I would be surprised.
Browncounty75, you are talking about 15,16,17 year old kids. Kids make mistakes. They learn from them. Are you sayng no one ever should be given a second chance? Coach Cropper is an excellent coach, who is building kids into adults, through sports. Everyone is allowed to make mistakes and allowed second chances. Sounds like you have some personal issues!!!
Maybe you should review who they have beat and who they have lost to. I saw them play and I would guess they will struggle against the better teams. This league is way down though, and they can dominate some of the weaker teams.
I have said in a couple of other posts on here GT is the best the SBC or SHL has to offer. IMO they will go undefeated. Say what you want about their "big 4" but it really comes down to Jay Chadwell, he is the best team player in either league. Coach Underwood knows this, when they need a bucket the ball is in his hands because he can score or break down the D and make the right decision on whom to pass to. If you foul him just give them the 2 he must be shooting 90-95% from the line. That said, I do not think they are playing as well as they did last year as a team. It appears to me a couple of their starters are not in as good a physical condition as they should/could be. I think the SBC is as far down overall as I have ever seen it (last 8-10 years). Their real competion is going to came in the tourny. Good luck to the GMEN.
I do not know what is happening at Wilmington or Lebanon, but each kid and parent need to realize that they are a 1,2,3,4,5 in a system. New coach or old coach and they need to do what it takes to fit into the system. Some new coaches struggle to adapt as much as the kids do. The thing for everyone to remember before quitting is you only go to high school once and most players careers will end after that, do you want to make the best of any chance or do you want to have "reasons" why it didn't work. If a kid really loves the game he can/will overcome all obstacles to continue to play,,, if he doesn't he will find "reasons" why someone else made it not work for him.
When you talk about best shooters I would look at 3pt % not overall %. Your comparing post players to guards if you do not look at 3pt %. Based on 3 pt %'s from the site listed above:
Cunningham WB 38.5% Ja Chadwell GT 31.6% Greer Goshen 28.7% Kidwell GT 26.9% Je Chadwell GT 26.7% Felder GT 18.2%
IMO 40-45% is good for 3pt %, 45-50% is very good, >50% is great That is a good website btw I am adding it to my favorites. Thanks!!!
