New Bremen tops Lehman in battle of state-ranked teams PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 30 September 2008

When you are playing a state-ranked team on a nightly basis, there is little margin for error.

And when No. 6 Lehman had a chance to take a two-set lead on No. 7 New Bremen Tuesday and didn’/t cash in, it proved costly as the Lady Cavaliers lost 19-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20.

“New Bremen played well,” Lehman coach Greg Snipes said. “But we had leads in the second game (after winning the first game). We actually had game point and didn’t convert. New Bremen seized the momentum and we never really got it back.”

One bright spot was the play off sophomore middle Ann Watercutter, who had six kills.

“Ann seized the opportunity when she got the chance and did a nice job,” Snipes said. “Our passing wasn’t real good at times tonight and that’s why we had to rely on the outsides a lot.”

Jessica Thobe had 12 kills and 18 digs, while Sarah Lynch had 10 kills. Marlee Wion dished out 35 assists and Jenni Paulus added 10 digs.

For Bremen, Taylor Jones had an outstanding game, finishing with 13 kills, 17 assists and 12 blocks. Becca Dwenger had 21 assists, Jaclyn Dabbelt had 13 kills, eight blocks and 13 digs, Michelle Griesdorn had 24 digs and Stacy Timmerman 21.

Lehman, 12-8, will host Fort Loramie Thursday. New Bremen is now 13-3.

Lehman won the junior varsity game 25-16, 11-25, 25-22.
