The Times-Gazette PEEBLES — Gaining six runs on five hits, while being powered being a 14 strikeout effort by pitcher Tim Seitz, the Fairfield Lions plowed past the Peebles Indians 6-0 on Monday.
The only hit allowed by Seitz was in the first inning, when Andrew Seamon reached first on a single. With both teams staying scoreless through the first five innings played, the Lions scored two runs in the top of the sixth, as Ryan Lawwell knocked in Seitz and Bryce Morris crushed a double to score Bobby Wilson. In the top half of the seventh, Ian Adams reached base on an error, scoring Jon Manson, to increase the Fairfield lead to 3-0. Fairfield's Jacob Alexander reached first on a scoring error, scoring Seitz. Morris padded the lead of the Lions with a single, scoring Adams and Nathan Hawkins. Leading the Lions at the plate were Lawwell, who finished 2-for-3, with one RBI and Morris, who finished 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Each team finished with two errors. With the win, Fairfield stands at 2-0 overall (2-0 in SHL). The Lions will face West Union at West Union today at 5 p.m.
