The weather held out just long enough for the completion of Tuesday night games in the Blanchester Summer League. Not five minutes after the completion of play, the rain began to fall, according to league official Matt Sexton. Two teams remained unbeaten on the season after sweeping doubleheaders Tuesday night. Eastern Brown downed East Clinton 8-0 in the opener and 6-3 in the nightcap to go to 4-0 overall. Also at 4-0 is Batavia, following 18-3 and 5-1 wins over Fayetteville. The nightcap was the first game in the league’s illustrious two-week history to be played to full seven-inning completion.
Wilmington handed a pair of losses to previously-unbeaten Springboro in two excellent games. Wilmington won the opener 6-4, then came back and won game two 5-3. On field one, Blanchester was once again involved in a split of two games. In game one, led by Sam Morrow in the circle, the Wildcats beat Whiteoak 11-1. Blanchester busted the game open in the second, scoring nine runs on just four hits. The big blow was a bases-clearing triple by Sarah Cioca. Lindsay Watkins added two RBIs while Destinee Workman, Laura Lance, Laura Morrow and Cassidy Jennett each added one run batted in. Morrow was solid in the circle, allowing just one run on one hit, walking one and striking out three in four innings of work for the victory. In game two, Whiteoak got revenge by downing Blanchester 4-2. A single and a double in the first plated three runs for Whiteoak. Blanchester scored both of its runs on wild pitches, with Alana Florea and Shelbie Smith each scoring. Add as favourites (18) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 234
