Astros hand out 29 varsity letters PDF Print E-mail

East Clinton High School honored its fall student-athletes on Wednesday during its fall sports banquet.

There were 29 varsity letters handed out in volleyball, cross country, golf and tennis.

The ECHS volleyball team finished its season 19-5 and went 13-2 in the Southern Buckeye Conference to win the National Division title. Amanda Uhl received a third-year letter. Second-year varsity letters went to Jessie Roberts, Tessa Witkemper and Hannah Moore. First-year letters were given to Sam Henderson, Mallory Manicho, Stephanie Pendell and Julia Schwarz. Certificates of participation were awarded to Jordanne Finley, Hannah Hazelbaker and Tiffany Luttrell.

Receiving certificates from the reserve team were Becky Bogan, Ashley Boyer, Katelyn Bussey, Aeimae Henry, Chelsea Hilderbrant, Morgan Holmes, Abbie Hough, Morgan Pence, Megan Starkey, Jordan Watson and Paige Yankey.

The JV team finished 9-11 on the season.

The Lady Astros were led by head coach Tony Alloy and JV coach Lynn Cowman.

In cross country, Josh Dunn received a fourth-year letter. Kaitlyn Warren and Andrew Young received second-year letters, while Sammi Saville and Matt Marsh received first-year letters. Drew Bussey received a certificate of participation.

The cross country team is coached by Jason Potts.

In golf action, second-year letters went to Naveen Sharma, Trevor Stevenson and Grant Woods. Dylan Eltzroth, Zak Hough and Nick Tissot all received first-year letters.

The team is coached by Tom Clemens.

From the girls tennis team — coached by Tom Kitchen — Blair Baker, Amber Boris, Emily Nunn, Jamie Sholler and Brandie Thompson all won second-year letters. First-year letters went to Murphy Bean, Brittany carpenter, Ashley Evans, Tara McKenzie and Brooke Vandervort. Certificates of participation were awarded to Jamie Copeland, Athena Knisley, Amanda McKibben and Karissa Young.

The EC football banquet will be held 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at ECHS.
