ADAMS TOWNSHIP — In the regular season finale, the East Clinton girls tennis team defeated Clinton-Massie 4-1 Tuesday on the CM campus. The Lady Astros finish at 6-11 overall. Though the CM match was a non-league contest, the Lady Astros completed their season with a 4-6 record in the Southern Buckeye Conference. “It is always a great rivalry with Clinton-Massie,” said EC coach Tom Kitchen. “Our kids enjoy competing against each other and tonight was no exception.”
The Lady Astros will now get ready for the sectional tournament on Thursday, Kitchen said. “Everyone played well and it was a good tune-up for our upcoming sectional tournament,” he added. Kitchen was especially pleased with the victory for his three seniors — Brittany Carpenter, Jamie Sholler and Ashley Evans. All three participate on doubles teams and were victorious individually as well.
