NEW RICHMOND — The East Clinton High School tennis team was swept by New Richmond in Southern Buckeye Conference action on Thursday.
The Lady Astros are now 3-5 on the season and 2-2 in league play. “We are still having trouble maintaining some consistency in our matches. We get off to a slow start and then play well for a stretch before falling behind again. I think we’ll continue to show improvement as the year progresses,” said EC head coach Tom Kitchen. The team returns to action 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Western Brown. SUMMARY SINGLES Kaitlyn Reid (NR) defeated Amber Boris (EC) 6-2, 6-1. Katie Bird (NR) defeated Tara McKenzie (EC) 6-0, 6-1. Kody Blankenship (NR) defeated Emily Nunn (EC) 6-1, 6-1. DOUBLES Tessa Ober/Sarah Clancy (NR) defeated Jamie Sholler/Ashley Evans (EC) 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
