OWENSVILLE — The East Clinton High School tennis team defeated CNE 3-2 in Southern Buckeye Conference action on Thursday.

The Lady Astros are now 4-6 on the season and 3-3 in league play.

“CNE was a tough win for us. It wasn’t pretty. CNE has some great fundamentals and we played too soft,” said EC head coach Tom Kitchen. “Our doubles came up big again for us. Jamie Sholler and Ashley Evans continue to get better each match. You expect to be able to count on seniors to get us through and they are starting to really develop as a team. Brittany Carpenter and Brandie Thompson pulled out a big win for us to seal the victory as well. I thought Emily Nunn played well also. She’s been getting better each match and was able to put it all together tonight.”

The Lady Astros will return to action Monday at Bethel-Tate.
