The East Clinton High School tennis team suffered a close 3-2 loss to Bethel-Tate on Tuesday. The loss drops EC to 6-6 on the season and 5-3 in the Southern Buckeye Conference. Bethel-Tate is 10-1 on the season and 6-1 in the league. “I was very pleased with how well we played as a team tonight. Bethel Tate came in at 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the league and we gave them everything they could handle. Jamie Sholler and Brooke Beam had another great match at first doubles by beating a very good team,” said EC head coach Tom Kitchen. “We need to continue to count on them and Amber Boris and first singles every match. Then we just need someone else to step up to seal the win for us. “I continue to be impressed with how well we are developing as a team. It is extremely difficult sometimes to bring that team aspect to tennis because everyone competes individually. I think our girls have figured out the secret to it and are using it to make us better both as a team and individually.” The Lady Astros return to action today at Greeneview. SUMMARY SINGLES Amber Boris (EC) defeated S. Runyan (BT) 6-1, 6-4. T. Evans (BT) defeated Courtney Livingston (EC) 7-5, 6-1. K. Shouse (BT) defeated Dani Krabbe (EC) 6-2, 6-3. DOUBLES Brooke Beam and Jamie Sholler (EC) defeated M. Fancher and S. Runyan (BT) 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. M. Hiler and S. Condiff (BT) defeated Brandie Thompson and Emily Nunn (EC) 6-1, 6-2.
