The East Clinton High School football suffered a tough 14-0 loss at Waynesville last Friday.
The Astros look to open Southern Buckeye Conference action Friday night on their home field for Parents Night. The Astros are going to have to get past a scrappy Williamsburg team to get that win. “They are a spread team they are going to spread us they are tough at QB and receiver. We are going to have to be sound defensively and we are going to have to tackle well,” said EC head coach Matt Hodge. “It is a ways important to play well at home in front of your home crowd. We are getting back to work and want to be 1-0 in league play.” Last week, Williamsbug gave up 286 yards on the ground in the team’s 40-21 loss to Summit Country Day. The Astros, who run a solid ground game, look for some air play this week as well. “Our goals is to come out and be balanced. We want to be as 50-50 as we can be. We are working to achieve that balance,” said Hodge. “We really focused on being more consistent and executing. We had spurts where we played pretty well and we made some mistakes that cost us opportunities [last week].” To open SBC play, the Astros will look for leadership from their seniors. “Our seniors have to step up and lead us. It is kind of cliched to keep saying, but they have to make sure we are doing things right on the field and lead,” he said. Add as favourites (17) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 322
