The Ladycats did not have a Senior on last years roster and only one Junior (Ashley Watkins) so with the injuries the team was very inexperienced and forced to play some very young players. Fortunately the young Wildcats stepped up and gained valuable experience and became competitive. The 2008/2009 Wildcats will have (8) returning letter winners with only (1) Senior in Ashley Watkins (7 points a game). There will be (4) Junior returning letter winners inlcuding Jenna Miller (11 points a game), Stephanie Blockberger (6 points a game), Emily VanGrootheest (3 points a game) also returning after missing the 2007/2008 Mallorie Wilson (ACL injury). (3) Sophomores will also return with Bridget Culp (6 points a game and leading rebounder), Morgan Fischbach (2 points a game) and Emily Fought (5 points a game). The Wildcats look to rebound from the 6 - 15 season with good depth and will relying on their quickness and aggressive play. Wildcats will be an up tempo team and use a pressing and trapping defense. We are also looking at getting better perimeter shooting this year. Experience will also be a plus for this year's squad. (JV Squad) Wildcats have a good group of JV players with (6) Sophomores and (5) Freshman. Two players injured over the Summer hope to return possibly before the end of the season are Sophomore (Taylor VanGroohteest) and Freshman (Samantha Thitoff). This group of younger players is very athletic and looks to be very competitive. The Northwest Conference should be very competitive this year. Crestview - Columbus Grove - LCC having excellent teams along with Paulding - Ada - Bluffton - Spencerville being very competitive. Allen East and Lincolnview lost strong groups to graduation but hope to rebuild.
