BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester High School tennis team beat East Clinton Tuesday, 5-0. In first singles play, Blanchester’s Dylan Swormsted defeated East Clinton’s Ben Thompson 6-0, 6-2. In second singles, Clay Howard, of Blanchester, defeated Thomas Rupp 6-0, 6-0. In third singles, Blanchester’s Kyle Hamilton defeated Jordan Villars 6-0, 6-0. “Even though Ben Thompson lost 6-0, 6-2, he was hitting the ball really nice and proving to be a nice singles player,” said East Clinton head coach Doug Stehlin.
In first doubles, the Wildcats’ Jake Weil and Randall Davidson defeated the Astros’ Kirby Keltner and Lee Morris 6-4, 6-4. And in second doubles, Greg Lawson and Alan Reeder, of Blanchester, defeated Naveen Sharma and Trevor Stevenson 6-2, 6-2. The Wildcats finished the regular season 10-4 overall, and 9-3 in SBC play. Blanchester will now prepare for sectionals at Princeton on Monday. The Astros are now 4-10 overall. Today, East Clinton plays its last home match of the regular season against Washington Court House at 4:30 p.m. SUMMARY SINGLES Dylan Swormsted (BHS) defeated Ben Thompson (ECHS) 6-0, 6-2.
