Div II district title games ....... history is made PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 11 March 2009

WHS 57 Shawnee 43. The win is the first district championship for WHS boys basketball since the 1926-27 basketball season.

Hurricane plays 8 pm March 19 at Xavier's Cintas Center against Marshall in the regional tournament.

-------

After three, WHS 40 Shawnee 27. Hurricane with 17 turnovers in the game. Berlin 7 in the third and Rollins had 5

-----

WHS 22 Shawnee 14. Not feeling good about this one. WHS played very well on defense but couldn't perform well enough on offense to put the Braves away. Should be an interesting first half.

WHS is 9-19 from the field but only 2-7 at the line. WHS has a 24-10 rebounding edge but the 12 turnovers is really, really killing the Cane. Shawnee has 4 turnovers but has made just 5-25 from the field.

Berlin 9 in the game 7 in the second quarter. Heard had a big first half for WIlmnigton as well.

-----

First quarter is over. WHS off to a great start and leads Shawnee 13-2. Shawnee was 0-11 from the field in the first quarter.

-----

Hurricane game probably tips at 9:10 or so. Let's make that more like 9:20. Marshall is taking a lon time to cut down the nets.

-----

Two games down. Marshall had a tough time but outlasted Roger Bacon, 67-59. Marshall will face either Wilmington or Springfield Shawnee in the regional tournament next week at Cintas Center.

-------

One game down. Graham 50 Indian Hill 46. The Falcons, No. 1 in the state, are now 24-0 on the year. Impressive defensive performance by GHS. Graham took just 28 field goal attempts in the game while Indian Hill shot 42 times.

However, at the line, the Falcons were 23-28.

------

Tonight is a big night in Division II boys basketball in southwest ohio. Three distirct champions will be crowned at UD Arena.

The schedule....
• 5:30 pm Indian Hill (No. 5 in state poll) versus Graham (No. 1 in state poll).
• 7:15 pm Thurgood Marshall (No. 10 in state poll) versus Roger Bacon.
• 9pm Wilmington (No. 4 in state poll) versus Shawnee.
Among the top players to keep an eye on:

• Roger Bacon's Jorian Hudson, a 6-3 junior, averaging 14 a game was a first-team All-Southwest District player. Adolphus Washington, a 6-6 freshman averaging 13 a game. He was a second-team All-Southwest District pick.
• Indian Hill's Sam Hendricks, a 6-5 junior averaging 13 a game. He was a secondt-team All-Southwest District pick.
• Marshall’s Juwan Staten, a 5-10 junior, who averages 20 a game and was a first team All-Southwest District player. He has verbally committed to Dayton.
• Wilmington's Quinten Rollins, a 6-0 junior averaging 15 a game. He was a first-team All-Southwest District pick. Also, Jordan Berlin, a 6-3 junior, averages 14 points a game and is a second-team All-Southwest District player.
