NEW RICHMOND — The Blanchester High School tennis team suffered a close 3-2 loss to New Richmond in Southern Buckeye Conference action on Tuesday.
BHS is now 7-2 on the season and 6-2 in the league. BHS got a singles win from Lindsay Martin and from the doubles team of Sarah Cioca and Karen Wilson. “It was a tough result, but the girls gave their best effort and that’s all you can ask. Lindsay is playing as well as anybody on the team right now. She really played well. It’s a shame that Katie Fawley was limited with a back injury. I would like to see her get another chance at Bird when she was healthy,” said BHS head coach Matt Sexton. “First doubles started slowly, but really dug deep to beat a solid first doubles team. I’m proud of second doubles for giving me their best effort. It was a tough one for them, but I’m proud of their effort.” SUMMARY SINGLES Kaitlyn Reid (NR) def. Amber Sexton (B) 6-2, 6-0.
