BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester High School tennis team picked up a big 5-0 win over Clermont Northeastern on Thursday in Southern Buckeye Conference action.
The Lady Wildcats are now 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in the SBC. “This was a nice bounce back win for our team. Missing our best doubles player (Sarah Cioca) due to injury, several players stepped up and played well in Sarah’s absence. Lendsey Smith and Karen Wilson played very well at first doubles, and Laney Binkley and Tamara Wolfe also played well,” said BHS head coach Matt Sexton. At first singles, Amber Sexton rallied from being down 1-4 in the third set for the win. “This was probably Amber’s best victory. To rally from 1-4 down in the final set to win was huge. I’m so proud of her. She never gave up and it paid off for her,” said the coach. SUMMARY SINGLES Amber Sexton def. Cody Patchell 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. Katie Fawley def. Becky Schultz 6-0, 6-0.
