BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester High School girls soccer team defeated Georgetown 2-0 in Southern Buckeye Conference action on Thursday.
BHS is now 4-2 on the season and 3-1 in league play. For the Lady Wildcats, Caitie Zike scored early with 33 minutes to play in the first half assisted off a Maria Monds assist. The second BHS goal came when Hannah Freytag finished a deflected Zike shot. Ashley Smithson earned the shutout making 10 total saves — nine of which came in the second half. “It was another good showing from the defense tonight including Alaine Saylor, Ashley Watkins, Mandy Monds and Megan Brown. The Georgetown offense stepped up the pressure on our goal off and on in the second half creating a very physical match. I am very proud of the way our defense has bonded together this week It was another good night for the mids and forwards on their passing game, although Georgetown held us to only 16 shots on goal,” said BHS head coach Gary Monds. BHS returns to action 5 p.m. Tuesday at home against Western Brown. Add as favourites (19) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 980
