Goshen is now 2-2 in the season while the Wildcats fall to 0-4.

The Warriors struck first when the team found the end zone with 2:19 remaining in the first quarter.

The Wildcats found some offensive momentum when Tyler Curry caused a fumble while sacking Goshen’s QB. Blake Bella and Tim Smithson threw themselves on the ball to give BHS possession on the Warrior 19. Caleb Runyon carried for two yards, followed by three carries by younger brother Josh Runyon for eight yards. The ’Cats couldn’t get closer than the 9. They lined up to attempt a Dylan Swormstedt field goal, but faked and passed to Rylan St. John for the score. Swormstedt took the kick for real on the point after attempt and the game was tied 7-7.

The half ended in the tie.

After the intermission, Goshen came out and took control of the ball game.

With 3:24 left in the third quarter, Tanner Schulte carried the ball 23 yards for the TD and Ryan Reese tacked on the point after.

Less than two minutes later, the Warriors struck paydirt again.

The Wildcats were forced to punt, and Michael Brusman blocked the kick. Goshen’s Mike Ventura picked up the ball and added a short run to give the Warriors first and 10 from the BHS 20. Jaimie Ashcraft then carried the ball 20 yards to the endzone where he fumbled and several GHS linemen fell on the ball for the touchdown. Reese tacked on another point to put GHS up 21-7.

The final Goshen score came in the fourth quarter on a lucky play.Playing typical Nick Inabnitt-inspired football, the Warriors drove down field on several carries. Nate Parriman attempted to take the ball into the endzone, but chose the pitch option to halfback Ashcraft for 5 yards and the TD. Another Reese point after gave Goshen the final 28-7 score.

“They handed it to us,” said BHS head coach John Lovin. “We have to get better. It was a very bad showing,”

The Wildcats will look for their first win of the season on the road next week at Bethel-Tate.
