Blanchester finishes 5-15 on the season and 3-12 in league play. WHS finished 3-18 on the year and 2-13 in league play.

The Wildcats jumped out to a big 18-7 lead in the first quarter behind Nash Ballinger with five points, and A.J. Wiley, Donald Rhinehimer and Steven White with four points each.

“We got ahead of them with a nice first quarter, then the whole rest of the game the lead stayed around 14 and nine. We jumped out and it was like the game stayed at that same spot,” said BHS head coach Bennie Carroll. “It was pretty balanced in the first quarter. We were pretty efficient in the first quarter.”

Ballinger led BHS in scoring with 22 points.

“Nash had a really good game. I would say all around that is the best game I have seen him play in high school,” said Carroll.

Ballinger was 7-8 from the field and 1-2 from beyond the arc. He also had four assists, five rebounds and four steals.

“Bryson Lewis played a real nice game. He didn’t score much, but he was out there and had four assists and four rebounds from the point guard position,” said the coach. “Steven and AJ played solid games. We were 25-45 from the field on 2-pointers. It was a good game. A much better effort than Friday night. We had a little more energy and more enthusasm.

“It was good. I was glad to see us come back after a not-so-good effort on Friday night. We stepped up and played well. Hopefully that will give us a little momentum because we want to go down and get one in the tournament.”

Blanchester will take on Felicity 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sycamore High School in the first round of sectional tournament action.
